  • It usually quite confusing buying new strings so here’s my recommended strings for CONCERT size ukuleles. These strings are made using Aquila Nylgut which is denser than nylon and sound great. Give yourself the best possible chance to make your ukulele sound sweet.
  • It usually quite confusing buying new strings so here's my recommended strings for SOPRANO size ukuleles. These strings are made using Aquila Nylgut which is denser than nylon and sound great. Give yourself the best possible chance to make your ukulele sound sweet.
  • This tuner is pretty robust and easy to use. It has the added bonus of being able to tune chromatically or for specific instruments – I use guitar, bass and ukulele (C and D) but it also does violin. I changed the battery in mine after about 6 months – typically these type of gadgets benefit from having a quality battery.
  • Here's a ukulele that looks fun – I've not played one before but researching the reviews it seems good. Tuned up an octave higher than a standard soprano ukulele it sounds quite punchy for such a small ukulele. If you prefer a standard shape they are available too. I wouldn't recommend one if you are a beginner but if you are really in to ukuleles this could be for you to have some fun with.
  • A ukulele bass is a worthwhile addition to your ukulele ensemble to get a fuller sound. This Kala model has good review and looks the business. The tuning is the same as a guitar bass so you can get a bass guitar player to join you on one of these.
  • A useful accessory for your music stand. Easily hang your ukulele up while you are sorting out you music or taking a break. A simple idea which takes the hassle out of trying to find a place to lean your ukulele up.

    Kmise Baritone Ukulele

    £46.99
I think for the price and what I have seen Kmise ukuleles are good value and good quality. If you have larger hands and fingers then a baritone size ukulele is what you need. The larger body gives it more resonance too. Don't cramp your fingers!
  • All the Kmise ukuleles I've seen have been good quality, so this deal caught my eye if you have no kit at all. This is concert size so not the smallest but usually quite popular for those with average sized fingers. I don't think you can go wrong with this ukulele.
  • For the money this looks rather nice. It has a lot of features you only find on more expensive ukuleles. The tiger flame okoume wood gives it a more unique look along with the classical head and bindings. Got to be worth a go if you like the look of it.
  • All the Kmise ukuleles I’ve seen have been good quality, so this looks a good bet if you have no kit at all. This is soprano size so it's the smallest ukulele for smaller fingers. I don’t think you can go far wrong with this ukulele starter kit particularly if you have no kit at all.
