Cycle Tour notes

Our 2017 cycling tour started in Girona in Spain and saw us follow the Costa Brava, over the Pyranees and through the Languedoc and Carmargue, over the Rhone then to Marseilles.

This route follows round the Costa Brava coast – the coastal routes are very scenic and good for cycling.

Mon 10th April
Cycle Day 2
L’Escala > Border > Argelès-sur-Mer, France
50 miles (50 miles)
The regular western route is the easiest so we went for the Eastern route with more climbing – it was tough! Argelès-sur-Mer is a French resort with a backdrop of the Pyrenees.

Tues 11th April
Cycle Day 3
Argelès-sur-Mer > Narbonne
56 miles (62 miles)
Flat riding along the coast. In case of adverse wind an alternative route in land can be taken. Narbonne is an old Roman port.

Weds 12th April
Cycle Day 4
Narbonne > Sète
46 miles (48 miles)
Sète is known as the Venice of the Languedoc with all its canals.

Thurs 13th April

Sete > Saint-Maries-de-la-Mer
50 miles (50 miles)
Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is the capital of the Camargue and right in the middle of it.
