From absolute beginner to band ready!
If you are attracted to playing the ukulele but perhaps a little daunted at jumping right in and joining band sessions, then this is for you!
Horsmonden Ukulele Big Band (HUBB) have developed quite quickly so we realise that our sessions may be more difficult for absolute beginners. With that in mind I have developed a beginners course to get you ready to join us and make your first HUBB session a good one.
You may be someone who’s played an instrument before or you may be someone who has no musical experience. Whoever you are I can teach you the basics and give you a taste of what we are doing in the band and songs we are playing.
In short, you will be confident to join us with no surprises as to the level required. On the contrary, you may realise it’s not for you, but have at least given it a try! Whatever happens you’ll have fun and meet new people!
Ukulele Beginners Course

- Timing and using a metronome
- Strumming patterns
- Shorthand chord names
- Singing and playing your ukulele
- Playing tips for beginners
- Easy HUBB songs to practice
- Anything else that may arise from learning the above!
What’s you’ll need
- Yourself
- A ukulele (let me know if you don’t have one)
- A tuner (optional)
- A pen and notepad (there will be handouts but your own notes might be useful)
