Teaching skills since 2000

I am passionate about teaching people new skills since these skills can last a lifetime and make a difference to people’s lives.

Cricket Coaching

I started cricket coaching back in 2000 and still coach for Horsmonden Cricket Club – one of the oldest cricket clubs in the world. I coach in the youth section where I head up the Under 9s and scout for new talent to bring to the club. I coach about one and half hours each week during the season April to August.

Scout Association

I have held a Scout Association warrant since 2007 having been in the Cubs, Scouts and Venture Scouts. Being a Cub leader involves a lot of teaching and I tend to focus on specialist subjects such as scouting skills, nature, wildlife and fauna, history, stamp collecting, sport and music.

Music

I have been playing guitar since I was a teenager and have always given informal lessons and taken formal lessons myself, so I know what’s involved.

Ukulele: Having helped set up Horsmonden Ukulele Big Band (HUBB) in January 2018 I have been assisting in formal lessons and running sessions every other week. I am now branching out to teaching beginners ukulele to help them get to a standard where they can join HUBB.

Banjolele: If you are particularly interested in taking up the banjolele, banjo ukulele, banjulele, banjo uke then I can help. I’m particularly interested in swing and jazz rhythms for banjolele.

Guitar: I have been a regular at the Gun & Spitroast Jam @TheGun Wednesday night sessions since it started in September 2017 and as a result played in various band set-ups – Rock and Roll, Jazz, Rock and Duos. As a result I have been asked if I can teach guitar which I have decided to do.
