Hijos de Vicente Tatay post 1942 Spanish Guitar
I acquired a rather lovely Hijos de Vicente Tatay Spanish Guitar. It’s a very attractive guitar with its sound box label and wood finishes. Photos to come soon.
Vicente Tatay was a guitar maker in Valencia from 1889. The workshop was transformed into a factory. The firm Vicente Tatay founded has grown into a major factory producing some 40,000 instruments a year.
Vicente Tatay retired in 1942, and the firm was taken over by his sons José and Vicente Tatay Tomás who formed a company Hijos de Vicente Tatay.
The rosette shown in the photo dates from 1942-73 and a “V” shape pencil mark can be seen underneath the fretboard end.
