Alhambra Model 2P early 1970s solid red cedar top Flamenco/Classical Guitar

PHOTOGRAPHED UNRESTORED

This Alhambra is an eBay auction find which caught my eye with its nice sound hole rosette marquetry and purfling. I contacted Alhambra to find out more about it which they kindly supplied…

“Your guitar is a model 2 P which was made probably in the early 70’s. Now this model is called 2 C, because we changed the nomenclature. Regarding the woods, your guitar has the top of solid Red Cedar, and the back and sides are of laminated Mahogany. The fingerboard is made of Indian rosewood. The yellow dots are not originals.”

Label details: Guitarras de Artesania / Manufacturas Alhambra S.A. / Muro de Alcoy (Alicanta) / España / Made in Spain

The guitar has been varnished which I may decide to remove to get it back to the original finish and improve the sound quality. The cedar top give this guitar a darker, warmer and fuller sound.
